Carved by hand rather than by machine, which shows in the small variations of depth and edge. The stone is chosen from natural stock, so colour and grain differ from piece to piece — we will not send you a seal that looks like the photograph.
What you receive: one hand-carved seal, a shallow dish of water-based ink, and a test impression made on paper before it leaves us.
Why water-based ink: traditional cinnabar paste is oil-based, and oil-based inks are treated as restricted goods by many air carriers. A water-based pad works, travels without trouble, and does not dry out.
Lead time: 7-10 working days to carve, then shipping.
