Terms of Service
These terms apply to every order placed on jingsheng.life. By placing an order you accept them. Please read the sections on made-to-order pieces carefully — they differ from ordinary retail.
1. Who we are
Jingsheng is a small independent studio. We design and make personalised Chinese names, calligraphy and carved seals, and ship worldwide.
2. Orders
Your order is an offer to buy. It is accepted when we confirm it by email, or when production begins, whichever comes first. We may decline an order — for example if the wording requested is abusive, or if we cannot ship to your country.
3. Made-to-order pieces
Most of what we sell is made for one person. This changes the usual rules, so we set them out plainly:
- We send two candidate names before anything is written. Nothing is produced until you approve one.
- You get two free revisions during the naming stage. Beyond that, revisions are charged at $15.
- Once you have approved a name and production has begun, the piece is no longer eligible for a change-of-mind cancellation or return. A name written for you, or a seal cut with your characters, has no second buyer.
- If we make an error — a wrong character, a piece that does not match what you approved, or damage in transit — we remake or refund it at our cost.
4. Prices and payment
Prices are shown in US dollars and exclude any customs duty or import tax charged by your country. Payment is taken by PayPal at the time of order.
5. Delivery
Making times are shown on each product page and are additional to shipping time. Risk passes to you on delivery. If a parcel is lost or arrives damaged, see our Shipping & Returns page.
6. Returns
Ready-made and unworn goods may be returned within 14 days of delivery. Made-to-order pieces are governed by section 3. Full details are on our Shipping & Returns page.
7. Your statutory rights
Nothing in these terms removes rights you have under the consumer law of your own country. Where you have a right to cancel that cannot be excluded by agreement, that right applies. Because made-to-order goods are personalised to your specification, most consumer laws treat them as exempt from the standard cooling-off period — but this does not affect your rights if the goods are faulty or not as described.
8. Liability
We are responsible for loss you suffer that is a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms. We are not responsible for delays caused by customs, postal services, or events outside our control. Our liability for any order is limited to the amount you paid for it, except where the law does not allow such a limit.
9. Changes
We may update these terms. The version in force is the one published when you place your order.
