About Jingsheng
Jingsheng is a Chinese name. We gave it to ourselves.
That is more or less the whole business: we give people Chinese names, and then we write them by hand.
A Chinese name is not a translation. It is a small decision with a long tail — it is the thing a teacher writes on a form, a friend types into a phone, a grandmother repeats until the tones come out right. Most transliterations fail quietly: they sound approximately correct and mean nothing at all.
So we work the other way around. We start from how your name actually sounds, then look for characters that carry a meaning you would want attached to you. We avoid the ones that look elegant on paper but are awkward to say out loud, and we avoid characters so rare that you would spend the rest of your life explaining them. Most names settle at two characters. We show you two candidates, explain every layer of the reasoning, and you choose.
Then we write it. Brush, ink, paper — and, if you want it, carved into stone.
We are not a store. We are a small room where a name gets decided, and then written down.
Stillness, written.
Every piece is made after you order, and made by hand.
